New Edificius release: smarter tools, faster workflows, and enhanced openBIM® performance

The latest update of the architecture design software Edificius introduces a fully enhanced collaborative environment that allows multiple users to work simultaneously on the same project in real time through usBIM.

The new system goes beyond the traditional check-in/check-out logic by using an intelligent traffic-light mechanism that manages concurrent edits, minimizes conflicts, and reduces downtime during shared operations. All team members can see the model evolve live, contribute ideas instantly, and communicate directly within the project thanks to integrated tools such as user activity tracking, chat, and dedicated video meeting rooms.

Artificial Intelligence plays a central role in this release with the integration of usBIM.codesign AI, which generates conceptual renderings and design proposals directly from sketches, photos, and models, bringing advanced creative support into the BIM workflow.

Sibilla, the built-in virtual assistant, further enhances the user experience by offering real-time guidance, helping professionals overcome learning barriers, solve technical doubts instantly, and increase overall productivity without interrupting their design process.

The 4D Gantt environment has been significantly expanded with new activity management tools, XML import/export compatibility with MS Project, improved timeline editing, customizable periods, and stronger integration between scheduling data and BIM objects.

Performance optimizations have been implemented across modelling and calculation processes, including improvements in Heritage BIM vault modelling and advanced material quantity computations.

The MEP environment evolves substantially with the introduction of advanced calculation and sizing tools such as usMEP.HVAC and usMEP.fireprotection, along with new hydronic system verification features, diagnostic alerts, automatic documentation generation, and full synchronization between calculations and the BIM model.

The update significantly enhances both MEP and architectural workflows by introducing dozens of new MEP components, more advanced 2D and 3D modelling tools, improved automatic fittings, smarter labelling and alignment features, and expanded bill of quantities management. Architectural design also benefits from new objects, better control of layer stratigraphy at intersections, streamlined executive drawing management, a new 3D importer, and improved workspace customization with updated shortcuts and quick-access tools.
